The Deni Scoop Factory Automatic Ice Cream Maker Model 5100 will allow you to create a variety of frozen ice cream, desserts and just about any frozen drink you can think of, without any harmful additives in about 30 minutes. You can now make fresh homemade ice cream without the use of countless pounds of salt, like the older ice cream makers, that required you to add salt mixed with ice into the outer compartment, and crank your valuable time away.

The Deni Scoop Factory is an electronic ice cream maker that makes approximately 1 1/2 quarts of ice cream. You can use any recipe that calls for 1 quart (the ice cream will expand while cooling in the machine).


THE DENI SCOOP FACTORY PARTS

The Motor Base ~ Very simple design. It has an On/Off switch and indents to match up with the "Clear-Vue" (explained below) lid. This insures that the lid has been locked in securely. The motor base is 62 watt and compact enough to fit most any counter space. It has an anti-slip rubber bottom to keep the ice cream maker in place while the motor is running.

Clear-Vue Lid With E-Z Add Opening ~ Once securely placed onto the motor base using the indents you can very easily add your ingredients through an opening in the lid without turning off the machine.

Speedee Freeze Double Insulated Canister ~ This is the freezing element. It is kept in the freezer for anywhere from 8-24 hours. It contains a liquid inside a double insulated canister that will freeze (obviously) and is what actually freezes your ice cream.

Stir Paddle ~ A white plastic paddle that is placed inside the Speedee Freeze Canister.


HOW THE DENI SCOOP FACTORY WORKS

The Speedee Freeze Insulated Canister needs to be put into your freezer over night, or at least 8-24 hours before you plan on making ice cream. When your ready to start, just give the canister a good shake. If you hear anything, put it back into the freezer, as it is not frozen enough to use.

You will start out getting your recipe ingredients together. The Deni Scoop comes with 6 ice cream recipes and 8 other frozen drinks / dessert recipes. They are:

Blackberry Sorbet
Cappuccino Ice Milk
Frozen Pina Coladas
Creamy Banana Ice Cream
Espresso Ice
French Chocolate Mint

Raisin & Rum Ice Cream

Vanilla Ice Cream

Example of the French Vanilla recipe:

Ingredients:
3 eggs (you may use egg substitute)
1 cup sugar
2 cups milk
2 cups cream
2 tsp vanilla

Beat eggs and milk together in a large saucepan. Add sugar and cook over low heat, stirring constantly, until thickened (should be able to coat the spoon). Cool, then add cream and vanilla. Mix well and refrigerate overnight.

Not all recipes call for cooking ahead of time. The recipes containing eggs usually need to be cooked first due to getting sick if raw eggs are consumed.

IMMEDIATELY after removing the Speedee Canister from the freezer, your ready to begin. There is a storage area for the cord underneath the motor base. Once plugged in, place the Speedee Canister onto the motor base. Then place in the stir paddle. Lock in the Clear-Vue lid and turn the motor on. The ice cream maker will start to rotate the Speedee Canister. Just add in your chilled mixture & watch it thicken in about 30 minutes!

Any ingredients that you want to add, like nuts or chips, can be added just before shutting off the machine. It will mix in thoroughly. **Don't try adding in syrup or fudge during the mixing process. It will become thoroughly mixed instead of having ribbons of fudge! Add that afterwards, when serving.

The ice cream will come out resembling a soft custard. You can always place it in the freezer for harder ice cream.


THE CLEAN UP

I've read some stories about how hard this model was to clean. I had none what-so-ever. The lid was a bit of a challenge the first time, but easily overcomed. The canister can be cleaned by rinsing with hot water. Don't try to dry it right away, the towel will just immediately freeze to the canister. You could either set the canister aside to completely thaw first, or rinse with very hot water and let it drip dry. The motor base can be cleaned using a warm sudsy cloth if any ice cream has dripped over it.

I'm not sure I have anything else to say aside from that! The ice cream came out exactly as they described. We have tried out 3 of the ice cream recipes that came with the Scoop Factory all within the first week. With 3 children in the house, it didn't last very long. They gobbled it up in seconds flat.

If you want to take the extra time to make homemade ice cream, without all the added ingredients the stores add, then it is definitely worth the added steps. I feel much better knowing my family is eating something where I actually know what was added to it. I highly recommend the Deni Scoop Factory Ice Cream Maker.

The Deni Scoop Factory comes with an instruction book that is written in English, Spanish and what looks like French to me. It is well written, with very easy to follow instructions. It comes with a page of hints and tips such as how you could change the recipes to make non-fat or low-fat ice cream. It suggests thoughts on artificial sweeteners, egg substitutions and storage of new ice cream.
