Pros: Great Picture, lowest price of comparable units, very good cust. support.

Cons: Small remote buttons, menus are easy, but multiple button pushes required

Buy this unit if you are looking for an alternative to TIVO or VCR. It does the recording on the hard drive or disk drive, and it is good quality.

I wanted a TIVO type recorder without the cost of a monthly subscription. Well, this is close. It does not do any of the intuitive recording, but I did not want that. I am fine just recording what I want. It have VCR , so the quick # entry works great.
The 16 program entries is more then enough for my needs, and contrary to the other review I read, you can watch and record at the same time. (as long as it is not a TIMER RECORDING....you can just push record while you are watching the show.)

The TIME SHIFT (pause live TV) feature is great. The unit is limited to 2 1/2 hours of recording during that time shift phase, but I have never needed more.
I had originally bought the ILO DVD without the Hard Drive......but returned it for this unit......and I am very glad I did. It has much better features.

I needed to call the company's toll free line to ask some questions. They were very helpful, and I got a live person very quickly. Their website provides FIRMWARE upgrades to the unit, so if you buy one, make sure you upgrade before you program in channels or times to record. (all that will be erased when the new firmware is updated)

Overall, I would recommend this unit to anyone who wants the ability to record to DVD, and does not want to pay the subscription.
