Pros: Not a TIVO, but NO monthly fee. Works as advertised.
Cons: Have to set timers twice, once on ILO and once on set-top box.
This is NOT a TIVO-class unit. Can't record-one-and-watch another.
But it will record to HD directly and do pause-and-resume for live TV. Recording directly to DVD will give iffy results.
Pros: features are limited but sound. No monthly fee. Very low cost compared to other products. Sold by Walmart, so that you can probably return it in short order if it's not your cup of tea. I've been using it in conjunction with a satellite box to record the "local" news from back home for snowbirds, and the DVD copies are always well-received by the snowbirds.
Cons: have to set up timers on Ilo unit and satellite receiver separately. 2 firmware upgrades in the last month and a half, but now the unit works as advertised.
