Design-wise the S40 takes on the long lines seen in the U-series cameras but is offering more functionality and a slightly larger 1.5-inch LCD. The S40 is aimed clearly at the entry level user and features include an MPEG movie mode, a top shutter speed of 1/2000 sec, down to 30 seconds in manual mode, as well as a 32 MB internal memory.

Great Camera

Pros: Takes mp3 movies, Fits in pocket, Good battery life
Cons: Small LCD
I bought this camera at Walmart for $126.00 without the CD that normally comes with it. I found it works with Windows XP but not with 2000 and below. The Sony site said I would have to pay for a new CD. After some Googling, I found the Sony Europe site had drivers for Windows 2000 that makes the camera look like a disk drive. I put a half gig memory stick in it and went to Disney World. I was able to take some great pictures. At MGM Studio I was able to take pictures of cars flying through the air that were sharp and clear and movies that had great sound. I am very happy with this camera.
