Curve by Liz Claiborne
Curve for men by Liz Claiborne is a vivacious, affordable and a high quality cologne. After its initial release in 1996, I was happily one of the first customers to add this new fragrance to my collection. On an average I usually go through a bottle of Curve annually, which leads me to my most recent purchase on February 10, 2004. The 4.2 oz spray bottle was on sale, and included a Valentines gift set I simply could not resist.
Curve for men contains a total of nine rich scents which include; bergamot, clove, lavender, vetiver, musk, lime, citrus, sandalwood and cedar. This wholesome mixture creates a classic scent that can be worn anytime day or night. It has been suggested that this is a daytime fragrance because of its lightheartedness, and spritzy feel, but if you want to embrace the carefree mood this cologne imparts I definetly recommend it for evening wear as well.
The first scent impressions of this cologne after it is sprayed to the skin are lavender, clove and bergamot. Lavender is an extremely popular Mediterranean scent used in a variety of colognes including Claiborne Bora Bora, Nautica Latitude Longitude, and even Calvin Klein Eternity. Although each fragrance is unique, distinct and different, I think it is important to note how this low-growing evergreen plant with a pale purple flowering top is so widely used amongst colognes. The other notable top notes clove cultivates the sweet-spicy aroma and bergamot serves as an excellent fixative prolonging the continuity of the cologne when sprayed on the body.
The pulsating heart of Curve is vetiver, musk and lime. The vetiver is another fixative in this cologne that echoes the scent of moist earth while the musk and lime present a perfect perfumery balance. These middle notes are apparent after approximately 8 to 10 minutes on the skin. The underlying tenacious undertones or base notes of the fragrance include cedar, citrus, and sandalwood. I think its great that Curve contains sandalwood, a fragrance which has been used in various ceremonies dating back to 500 B.C. Ive always enjoyed the woody, balsamic note it adds to fragrances especially in Curve. Ultimately the base notes provide a wonderful essence reminiscent of the aroma of freshly cut wood dried under the sun.
The glass bottles spirited greenish and yellowish design is dynamic. The stylish plastic circular orange device between the pump and the bottle is great when traveling as it prevents the cologne from coming out. This little circular orange piece can easily become lost so its important that you put it in the jewelry box or a safe place when not in use. I also like the fact that you can see how much cologne you have left in the bottle due to its see through design. The pump works well squirting out the desired amount. Liz Claiborne Curve does not come in a cardboard box like other colognes. This cologne comes in a tin container thats as fancy as the bottle. After discarding the protective cardboard that surrounds the bottle, you are left with a decorative Curve tin container that works well as a fashionable pencil and penholder for the office.
Ive rotated Curve in and out of my monthly cologne collection for years. Its a great fragrance for those looking to throw something different into their everyday lives. Most importantly this cologne breaks with the traditional hard scents offering a light, yet manly scent reminiscent of spring. Curve is comfortable and gentle like a soft kiss on the neck.
A few squirts to the chest will do wonders, its not a heavy fragrance once applied to the skin. Opportunely, after Curve settles on my skin, my bodies natural heat expands and intensifies the cologne making a little go a long way. Ive worn Curve to work and at the gym, and it continues to retain its character throughout the day providing good substantivity and lastingness. If you want to put a twist in your cologne collection then reach for a bottle of Curve.
This Curve is so sexy.
