The freshest coffee imaginable

Author's Rating: Rating: 5/5 stars

Pros: This product has a water filter, a thermal carafe, and is very easy to clean.

Cons: The sudden, programmed grinding noise should be preceded by warning beeps to prevent shock.

The Bottom Line:
This is the perfect product for those busy folks who like great coffee but don't have time to clean intricate coffeemaker or grinder parts.

The Cuisinart Grind and Brew Coffeemaker DGB-600BC is not only attractive on the counter, it is even more attractive when it does its job.

Discriminating coffee drinkers know that a great cup of java is made with filtered water and freshly ground beans. With this product they not only have these options every morning, they can program the whole performance the night before. Manual instructions are easy to follow and parts are incredibly easy to remove and clean. Five soft beeps inform you when your wake-up juice is ready. The stainless steel 10-cup carafe (only on this particular model, not the very similar black or white models with 12-cup glass carafes) seals out the air and keeps your brewed coffee piping hot and fresh-tasting for hours. With this attractive thermal carafe there is no need for a warming plate--you know--that awful thing that spoils the taste of your coffee faster than you can drink it. The product has no feature to set the grind, yet the grind appears to be preset to the optimal level at medium grind. Although the Cuisinart Grind and Brew Coffeemaker DGB-600BC comes with Brew Pause, Cuisinart does not recommend taking advantage of the 30-second-maximum interruption because doing so would change the flavor profile of your coffee.

Yet even after programming the coffeemaker, my cat and I can't help but be rudely shocked by the sudden, unexpected whirl of the grinder blades when the machine starts up. Obviously, the noise of any grinder cannot be significantly lowered. So I suggest that Cuisinart in future models precede this startup by three soft beeps.
