Pros: Great for bagels
Cons: Expensive
How much toast do you eat?
You have to ask yourself that question before you decide to buy this toaster. Frankly, I am a little embarrassed to admit that we splurged on it. The toaster must feel like its slumming next to my Mr. Coffee.
We do eat a lot of toast and bagels at my house, so I feel somewhat justified for spending so much. Plus my husband and I managed to burn up three cheaper toasters in nine years. We finally caught onto the fact that we needed to invest a bit more when we bought this toaster.
Now it sits on my countertopsleek, white and oh-so high-tech. Although I love the nostalgia of the chrome toasters, this finish is much easier to keep looking shiny and free of fingerprints.
You know I didnt spend more than $100 on a toaster just because it looked good, though.
First of all, the slots are the perfect size plenty wide for bagels but not so wide that the heating elements are so far removed from regular bread that you could rearrange your cupboards by the time your toast is done.
Next, it has a nice series of seven shade levels to suit my daughters toast tartar taste as well as my own desire to flirt with burnt and get toast really dark.
The bagel feature is one we use all the time and its perfect. I found just the right setting to get them nicely browned without any burned edges.
The reheating feature does work, although I find that it tends to dry out the pastry a bit.
Its easy to clean up and very reliable for this toast-loving family. A niceif a bit extravagantaddition to my countertop appliances.
