Cool Runnings is sure to make you laugh and cry all at the same time. Written and told well, this comedy is one of my favorites. One of John Candy's last, he delivers another heart warming performance, not only funny but emotional too.

Cool Runnings is based on the true story of the Jamaican quest to make it to the Olympics. In the movie, they are first met in Jamaica by friends, family and potential supporters who think they are crazy and will never be able to do it. On their own, they get the money to send them to the trials, and are met by hostile competitors and many trying to discourage them. They keep performing despite their hardships, and make it through the trials. By the their last run on the Olympics race, they have earned the respect of their peers, and their family back home. But, on their last run, tragedy strikes and they have a horrible crash. The most emotional moments in the whole movie, where the star, played by Leon, says he has to finish the race, and they carry their bobsled to the end of the course, just meters away. At this, they earn the respect of even those who had been most set against them.

This movie is so funny. Even after having seeing it hundreds of times, and having virtually every line memorized, I still crack up each time I watch it! If you like a good laugh, enjoy and emotional movie, and would like to see a movie based on actual events, this one is for you. Be sure to watch during the crash, they used actual footage of the real crash, and you can tell the difference by the look and lighting differences in the films.
