Great Handheld for the Money

Author's Rating: Rating: 5/5 stars

Pros: Sleek, futuristic design. Nice screen. Future expandability and built-in wireless! Cool!

Cons: Limited software package. Not as many available apps as PalmOS. HP documentation not very thorough.

I was always kind of envious of my wife and her antiquated-but-useful Handspring Visor, but never broke down and bought a PDA for myself. I'm glad I waited as long as I did because this PDA has tons of features for the money.

The unit feels sleek and light in your hand. True, the stylus is almost too small, but I'll accept the mini-sized stylus for the compactness it affords.

The screen is bright and vibrant, touch sensitivity is great, and buttons are responsive and well-placed.

The built-in bluetooth made me choose this unit over the new Toshiba e400 -- same price for that unit, but no wireless!? With the iPaq1940 I can configure/synchronize my PDA, download files, and surf the net anywhere in my house! How cool is that?

A couple downers: No USB cradle. No carrying case. Battery life is acceptable, but not great. Battery runs down especially fast when you turn Bluetooth on.

SUMMARY: The Bluetooth capability, competent 266Mhz processor, and SDIO future expansion port means this PDA will not become an obsolete paperweight on your desk in a couple years.
