Great set of radios for the price

Pros: Great price, good features, flex antenna
Cons: flimsy holder
The Bottom Line:
Feature packed, great performance, and reasonable price. Definetly worth your attention.
Me and my girlfriend purchased these radios in January of 2002. The main purpose of buying these radios was for use on our motorcycles. We found a company that makes headsets to use in motorcycle helmets that support this radio and several others. So we went shopping for a radio....
We found a pair of these at WalMart for 70 dollars. It included a pair of radios, rechargeable NiCad batteries, desktop charger, and headset mics. We were able to get all this for the price of one of the Motorola talkabouts. So we thought we would give them a try, after all if they didn't work good, we would take them back or just eat the cost.
So we got them home, hooked them up to our helmet mic/headset and off we went riding. Clarity is excellent, especially if you are in sight of each other. Sometimes we get separated and each of those times, we still were able to stay in contact with each other, up to a mile and a half away, without any problems. I would have thought interference from the motorcycles electrical system would hamper them, but this hasn't been a problem.
The radios have a built in battery saver feature. We have been able to go up to 10 hours of use and the battery indicator hasn't came on yet indicating we needed to charge it but we go ahead and charge them just in case. Another great feature for us is if the rechargeable batteries die, you can stop at the store, pop them out and use regular batteries with them, a plus for when we travel on our bikes.
The only bad thing I have to say is the holder for them seem a bit flimsy. We don't use them for riding (we just put them in our pocket), but the clip on the holder looks like it might break if treated roughly.
If you are looking for a pair of FRS radios, definetly give these a consideration and look for them in the store.
