The COBRA microTALK FRS 220 is the best choice for the outdoor enthusiasts. Water resistant construction allows the microTALK FRS 220 to go where others cannot. Plus you get desired features like maximum allowable power output, all 14 FRS channels, 38 CTCSS sub-channel tones, a backlit LCD screen, incoming call alert, Roger Beep "end of transmission", and a Key Lock to prevent accidental channel change and much more!

Pros: Lock function keeps from inadvertently changing settings when picking it up
Cons: Antenna is bothersome in belt holster
The Bottom Line:
I recommend the Cobra particularly for the lock function
I have a disabled wife who can call me with the FRS when I'm out doing yard work or what ever. It works fine. I get static on the lower channels. It does well on Ch. 9 and higher around here. I haven't tried the extra channels because the 14 that are easily available are satisfactory for me in this area.
The lock function is handy to keep from inadvertently changing a setting when picking it up as can be done on a TV remote.
When carried in the belt holster I find the antenna bothersome more so than with the antennaless Uniden unit I tried.
The sound is clear and loud for my deaf ears.
