2006 Uplander

could be better, could be worse

Author's Rating: Rating: 3/5 stars

Pros: Looks more SUV'y, comfy ride, rear seats easy to move

Cons: HUGE blind spots, not enuf rear leg room, no rear AC or heat

The Bottom Line:
All in all it's not too bad but I liked my Grand Caravan better. If I had it to do over again I would but another one of those!

We bought this van 2 months ago when my beloved 2000 Dodge Grand Caravan Sport finally died. I loved that van and wanted another just like it. My husband wanted an SUV. he first saw the Buick van with the SUV'y front and liked that look,it was out of our price range. I pointed out the Uplander's look just like the Buick's (and the new Montana's) but were priced in our range,we decided to compromise.

My biggest complaint is the huge headrests in the very back that create a giant blind spot. And the "beam" parts in the back seem to be too big also-creating more big blinds pots. BE CAREFUL!
I Opted against the automatic doors because they seemed slow and I don't mind doing it myself, or the kids can do it. I like the DVD system, better since I figured out how to listen to the radio instead of their movie all the time. Still can't get the auxillery thing to work.

Not enough leg room in the middle or back. But the seats are easy to lift up and put down, easy enough for the kids to do it.
Not near enough storage room, especially if you have children. No rear air or heat on base packages.
I haven't noticed any wind noise at 30 or 70mph. But I have noticed it is rather doggy. It doesn't accelerate nearly as quick as I would like, especially in high traffic or passing situations.
All in all I would say it's not too bad, but I liked my Grand Caravan better and if I had it to do over again I would press the issue a bit further.
