Theres no debate. TrailBlazer is one powerful mid-size SUV. A 275 hp Vortec 4200 in-line 6-cylinder engine generates more standard horsepower than any other V6, or V8, in its class. And gives you a towing capacity of 2767 kg (6100 lb.) on 4x4 models. Hydroformed-steel side rails set a new standard for lightness and strength. Yet with 65/35 split second-row seating and wide-opening liftgate, TrailBlazer has the flexibility to take on adventure after adventure. Minimize

Truck with some quirks

Author's Rating: Rating: 4/5 stars

Pros: Tows good, comfortable ride.

Cons: Small issues are annoying, shocks too soft.

The Bottom Line:
I would recommend this vehicle only with an extended warranty.

bought a 2004 Chevrolet Trailblazer LS 2wd 4.2 V6 to drive around town (not to work and back) and to tow a small trailer I have.

So far, I have had to get the PCM (Power Train Control Module) re-tuned, because when I would come to a stop, the truck wanted to shut off. Lights would dim, and people would think I was flashing my lights at them. Although it seem to be doing it again.

Second issue, a light under the dash has gone out at 38,000 miles. Also the RPM gage needle, decided to fall to the bottom and not come back up.

The weather stripping/mouldings started to dry rot at 25,000 miles. This is with regular (not excessive) cleanings, and does not sit in the sun.

With towing a trailer maybe 2500lbs at a time, the trailblazer pulls without a problem. Really don't even realize your pulling it. With 6300lb maximum towing*, it should do that.

The brakes are a bit touchy, hitting them hard will send the fast-food drinks flying forward.

Gas is not to bad, id say about 3-4 fill-ups per month on regular use. Usually between $40 and $50 per fill up.

The heating and air conditioning works great!

Overall a good truck
