The 1997 Mailbu is all new and has been completely redesigned. The interior has been ergonomically designed with the drivers needs in mind. The instrument panel, for example, clusters the gauges closely together, the speed control has been embedded in the steering wheel and a cup holder (placed directly to the left side of the steering wheel) was designed so the driver can keep is strongest hand on the wheel. Backlighting has been added to all major switches (e.g. windows, locks, mirrors, sunroof, etc.) for convenience. An interesting note regarding the construction of the Malibu involve its assembly with the doors-off. Chevy feels that this system, doors-off, improves the ability to inspect the vehicle to insures quality.
