No.5
Chanel No. 5 is probably the most famous fragrance of all time. It was, after all, Marilyn Monroe's favorite fragrance. She is quoted as saying "What do I wear to bed? Why, Chanel No. 5, of course." More recently the fabulous Nicole Kidman was the spokeswoman for the fragrance. The ad campaigns are alway outstanding and classy.
Unfortunately, fame, women, and gorgeous advertisements cannot save this product from the fact that it smells awful. I currently work in a perfume section of a department store and have had the chance to catch a wiff of hundreds of different fragrances. We sell a lot of Chanel No. 5, but not because I, or any of the other people I work with, thinks it smells good. My manager has hypothesized that this fragrance sells because it reminds elderly women of the "good ol' days" of their youth. After all, Chanel No. 5 is basically what you would expect an old lady to smell like. It's musky (and not in a good way) and makes you feel like something must have gone a bit bad in the bottle. My mother always told me that you're not old until you've reached 100. So ladies, please act your age and save the Chanel No. 5 for the trully old ladies!
This is a Good Fragrance for You if You're 100yrs Old...

Pros: Fame. "Classy" image. Marilyn Monroe.
Cons: Smells like a bouquet of rotting roses.
The Bottom Line:
This is an old lady scent. Only for those 100yrs and older.
