Casio QV-R51

Author's Rating: Rating: 4/5 stars

Pros: Compact, robust construction, good quality pictures

Cons: Poor in low-light situations, not as compact as newer cameras

Author's Review
The Casio QV-R51 has been a good camera for my family. We purchased this camera when it first came on the market, so we've had it now for 2-3 years. I paid $300 for it at the time.

Upon first purchasing the camera I was extremely pleased with the picture quality and the battery life. I loved having a compact camera which I could depend on for quality pictures. The camera had enough features that I could fool around with and have a good time as an amateur family photographer.

The camera does not come with a case, does not come with much (hardly any) internal memory for storing pics, and does not record audio.

The camera is robust and has taken abuse rather gracefully with hardly any (if any) scratching. It takes fine pictures with good color matching.

I've noticed that the camera is relatively poor in handling low light situations (you always need a flash) and in taking pictures that exceed the optical zoom.
