A sexy lookin' camera with a lot of punch! Crisp, vibrant colors, extremely compact and not too pricey after the unveiling of the S330.
What can I say, I've had this camera for about 2 years. I'm only reviewing it now because I've just recently discovered this wonderful site!
But, who better than a seasoned user of this glorious device to offer you my most educated opinion. The S300 was recommended by a photographer friend of mine who knew her cameras and knew them well. Needless to say, I was more than satisfied with the results.
The quality of photos on this device are unbelievably crisp. The balance and sharpness of the colors are incredible. Those who have seen my pics online are amazed that a digital this compact could have possibly taken such clear and colorful shots.
The features which clinched my decision and have kept me smiling since: black & white option, digital video w/sound capability & SUCH ease of use!
I purchased a 96mb Compact Flash card which holds about 300 pics at standard resolution...which is still decent quality! I also just picked up an extra battery. The included 1x lithium ion, sadly, has a short life. MUST have a backup if you're a non-stop pic snapper who doesn't need the hassle of re-charging.
Lastly, pick up a CF card reader. Although the USB cable & software included are easy to manipulate, let me tell you how nice it is having the external reader, especially if you own other digital devices that use the same type of card, i.e. MP3 player, etc.
