LOVE this camera. Have had it 4 mos. It is not a camera you can keep two weeks and give up. You have to read directions and practice. I saw some purple fringing but not much and usually easily avoided. As far as shooting in bright light, just select a different setting, like scenery and it just isn't a problem. I snap most pics in vivid on the scenery mode and they work. You MUST play around with this camera in many situations to get the best results. Many people just give up since it is not a simple point and shoot camera for all occasions. I have taken it to school and snapped sports in action. It has been to California, and Universal Studios both in bright light and inside the fake earthquake scenes and all the pics are good-to-great with no purple fringing. The focus is great, having good views both close and far away in the same photo. Of course, I wiggled the camera at times, but not much of a problem. The continuous photo feature and the feature of 3 snaps in other modes is super!!! I have taken fireworks at night using manual settings and gotten some grand pics. 8x10 pics are awesome, it takes great pics of my travels for framing. I can't say I hate anything about it--I love it!
