This is my second digital camera which I purchased because it was more compact (design) than my first (a Minolta DiMage 7i). As a serious photographer and an engineer, I feel it is a superb camera and I'm very pleased with its purchase. It has a highly accurate autofocus system which is fast - I've yet to take a bad shot with it. The color reproduction is highly accurate as often I rarely need to adjust the image with Adobe Photoshop elements. The controls are easy to use with plenty of room for creative adjustment, and the flip-out articulating screen is a real plus in shooting special situations (like self-timed or remote controlled shots or overhead shots in a crowd). While battery life is very good, the screen also helps in conserving battery power as I can easily flip it open (turn it on) on only the most crucial shots, and otherwise keep the screen closed and off, using the viewfinder. This camera could easily turn me into a Canon loyalist !
