Great camera for the novice looking to upgrade their skills

Pros: Solid for beginner and pro, great pictures, auto-focus-assist lamp and a battery that lasts forever.
Cons: lens cap falls off easily... not a big deal
As a novice photographer I was looking for a camera that takes great pictures and gives me lots of features that I may not choose to use all the time. The I started out with an S-50 but due to quality issues (I got 2 lemons in a row) I ended up with the G-5 and I'm glad I did.
The G-5 is just right. It gives me options when it comes to lenses, it has the relished auto-focus assist lamp that too many cameras in its class do not include and a flexible/rotating LCD). The user interface is reasonably good if your comfortable dabbling with electronics and the pictures are just superb and... the battery seems to last forever ! (Batteries are THE big issue with digital camera's.. I have never run this one dry).
There are lots of expert reviews out there that can get quite confusing. So I'll opt to leave it at this... Lots of professional features on a camera that can be used by the novice... Its Solidly built and takes great pictures. What more can you ask !
