What an amazing camera!

Author's Rating: Rating: 5/5 stars

Pros: Compact, good controls layout, amazing photo quality, video with sound

Cons: Technical for the first-time camera user, really drains batteries

The Bottom Line:
Another quality Canon product that features durability, sleek design, and multiple functions for a low price.

We just got this after losing out Kodak DX3600 off the bumper (yes, really!). We knew this would be an upgrade in pixels (3 vs. 2) without losing video and sound capabilities, but I am just blown away by all of the additional features and amenities. Here are just a few they don't tell you about:

Start-up: When you turn on the camera a picture comes on with a little sound clip. You can customize your start-up with one of several pictures that come with the camera or you can use one of you own. Same with sound, use theirs or record your own. Nice feature!

Photo effects: I like the few but varies effects like black and white, sepia, super bright, soft edges, etc. Neat when you actually are planning shots. The panorama or "photo-stitch" is also quite a bonus.

Non-extending zoom lens: Other cameras zoom by extending their lens out at it zooms while this camera does the same action internally. The extending lens has problems down the road with sticking so I really appreciate this little detail.

All in all, I am way over my head with this camera. There are many adjustments and settings you should to make and/or learn about before you start taking pictures but, true to form, I just jumped right in and started shooting. I am loving all of the extra features and I feel ready for moving my camera knowledge to the next level - a step that won't be difficult with the comprehensive manual collection distributed with every camera.

Wishing you all great photos!
