With a 3.2 Megapixel sensor, Canon Optics, and a sleek, ergonomic body, the new PowerShot A300 raises the bar for entry-level digital cameras. The A300 incorporates a number of advanced features into a low-cost, high quality digital camera, perfect for first time buyers and digital aficionados alike.  With its 3.2 Megapixel CCD, and high quality fixed length autofocus f/3.6 lens (35mm equivalent of 33mm) the A300 provides high resolution images with extraordinary clarity. A 5.1x digital zoom with macro focusing down to 2'', helps you record even the smallest details. And with its advanced 5-point AiAF autofocus, the A300 ensures that your subject need not be centered to be in focus.

Perfect beginners camera

Pros: Perfect images, Simple to use.
Cons: No TIFF/RAW, sometimes ackward behaviour.
The Bottom Line:
If you want a simple camera to produce point-and-shoot pictures for the web or your friends it is great.
I consider this camera as a perfect point-and-shoot digital camera. The quality is - for the price - outstanding. It delivers good quality pictures. It is simple to use and responds most of the time quickly to the pressing of the shutter release.
However on several occasions I found that it doesn't always responds at all. And then it turns out that the flash has to be loaded or that the picture is not in focus. After that is fixed (either way) the pictures indoors as well as outdoors are as good as they can get. It is for a camera of this price (I paid 269 Euro for it) better not to have a zoom instead of a crappy zoom. I like the camera!
