Pros: Progressive scan, Optical stabilizer,RGB filter
Cons: Included BP-511 battery lacks longevity
I shopped thoroughly before buying this camcorder,i.e. on-line research, reviews, video periodicals, etc. Its features are very similar to those of the new Elura, which has been around awhile. Although a lot of people are attracted to the Elura because of its design, I've always preferred
the palmcorder design. I looked at models by JVC, Panasonic, and Sony. The Optura Pi won hands down primarily because of the OPTICAL image stabilization, progressive scan CCD, and RGB color filter. Its construction seemed more bullet-proof and the controls had a high quality feel. I have been using it now for about 2 weeks and feel that I made the right decision. We bought the BP-522 battery (which is good for about 2.5 hours with the LCD on). My wife loves the 3.5" LCD and the manual focus feature. Can't wait to get my StudioDV so we can start creating some serious home movies!
