GREAT CAMERA - Short Battery Life
| Author's Rating: |
|
Pros: Really small, take it anywhere, the mini DV tapes can record 1 hour!, view screen
Cons: Very short battery life, view screen is very small.
The Bottom Line:
Small & lightweight but bad battery life.
The new technology is here! With the Cannon Elura 50 you can take video or still pictures where ever you go! I have always liked Sony cameras but one I first started using this one, I forgot all about anything Sony ever made. It's so small and lightweight that it fits in your pocket!
The battery life is it's one problem. There is no room on this tiny camera for a big battery so it only holds 30 minutes (with view screen). But the battery does charge fairly quickly.
Here's what I suggest for keeping a good charge:
1. If you are using the standard battery, use the view finder. Then the battery will last about an hour.
2. They do sell batteries that last longer, though they are big and heavy and expensive. The battery pops out the side if you get this deluxe kind.
3. Turn the camera completely off when your not filming. This way you won't waste any battery at all.
4. Turn off all features that the camera has. This will defiantly make the battery last longer.
5. Have a spare battery! The batteries are really small so just have a fully charged second battery on hand for if the first one dies.
6. Plug it in! If you are near an outlet use it! Save the battery for when your not around one.
I hope those suggestions make your battery last longer.
On the camera, you can find these output/input plugs:
1. DC in (so you can plug the camera into an outlet)
2. MIC (so you can plug a microphone into the camera)
3. USB port (so you can download still pictures off the camera on to your PC.
4. DV (so you can download video off the camera onto your computer)
5. AV IN/OUT (so you can get video onto a TV or video from a TV to the camera)
6. S-Video In/Out (another way to get video off the camera onto a computer or TV)
7. LANC (allows you to connect the camera to equipment)
Some features of this camera (There are very many so I will name some of the best ones):
1. Has many things that you can do to the video like put it in a circle or in a cube. You can put some frames around it and make it mosaic.
2. You can make 4 windows (3 for pictures and 1 for video)
3. Doesn't put stills on video tape. It has a separate card that it saves them on.
4. Automatic focus.
5. Color viewfinder.
6. Auto PowerOff (which can be a good thing or a bad thing)
7. Great zoom!
I hope my suggestions help you make your decision on which camera to get. Have a great day!
