ES75-More features than most other cameras in this price range!!
| Author's Rating: |

Pros: A lot of features for the price. Good quality recording. Compact.
Cons: Has the color viewfinder, but no flip out LCD. No image stabilization either.
The Bottom Line:
If you are looking for a lot of features for a little price, you've found it here!
I purchased this camcorder for my husband for his birthday just a few months ago. It has definately gotten plenty of use and we are most impressed with the features that it has for the price we paid.
I picked this camera up for $189 at Circuit city as an open box special. New, you can purchase this at Circuit City for $219.00. You can pick it up for $209 at BuyDig, but you will pay about $20 for shipping.
FEATURES
22X Optical Zoom-this is a lot better than what you get with most other cameras in this price range.
800x digital zoom-WOW!!! You can see details on a fly across the room.
Color Viewfinder-this is nice, a lot of others in this price range only have a BW viewfinder, but the flip out LCD would really be better here.
Special effects-easy to use--portrait, sephia, black and white, cinema, 16:9 format, mosaic, negative, fade in/out and art-the special effects are easy to use. There is a dial you simply turn on the camera to use these features. One thing about this camera is the great ease in operation. In just a few hours, you'll operate it like a pro!!
Built-in Light for low-light recording. This really isn't the greatest, the lighting isn't all that even, but for the price--it's pretty good. You can record well in low-light situations or at night, but it's definately not cat's eye recording either.
Battery Life-With just a 2 hour charge, you can get up to 2 hours of recording, but if you use the built-in light, this time will be greatly reduced. We plan to purchase a longer life battery, but this one is working out pretty well. One thing about charging the battery, you must charge it on the camera while it is not in use, so you cannot record while charging unless you purchase a seperate charger.
Sound-Good clear, crisp sound recording. Captures cound from a pretty good distance.
Overall Quality of recording-We have had a lot of people comment on just how clear the picture is when we show them videos made with this camera. We use it a lot outside to record our son playing and you almost feel like you are right there when you are watching. It definately records high-quality picture!!
Playback-is quick and simple. You can watch what you just recorded right through the color viewfinder or hook it up to play and record through your VCR. Remember you are recording on a HI-8 tape so if you want a VCR tape, you must play and record through your VCR.
Size-this is a lightweight camera weighing in at just under 1 1/2 lbs. It is easily held with just one hand, while your hand can easily wrap right around it.
NO Image Stabilization on this camera-what do you expect for the price, if you are a little shaky recording, you will notice it in the video. This problem can be solved by using a tripod.
This camera is much like the ES65 and other ES models. Simply the newer, slightly improved and a little more compact version.
Canon did well with this camera, making it easy to afford without compromising the quality or taking away the little extras that you like in a camera.
What I am most impressed with here is the Zoom and the recording quality. We use the special effects occasionally and they are great to have to add that little spice to your video.
This is a great camera for the novice recorder and the price makes it most desireable. It's great for making family videos and recording little mini-movies.
