Canon? I would think twice....

Pros: Looks really cool. Lots of nice features in one package. Price.
Cons: Badly made and very non reliable.
The Bottom Line:
Think about this fancy vacation when you will carry a dead camcorder on your back (like it happened to me)and you envy all those other brands working camcorders arround you.
As the owner of a canon ES800 I will give my view on this product line:
Do not get fouled by the fancy ES line look ("a steal") and lots of features for less money.
After I repaired my 6 years old Canon ES800 three times, I finally understand:
Canon is a 35mm camera manufacturer.
If you want a camcorder, buy one built by a well-known camcorder company. My brother has a six year old Sony camcorder and he never had to repair it yet; and they really abuse it (his kids are playing with his - my children never touched ours).
I bought my Canon because it was looking really good and had a lot of nice features (more than Sony!!) for the price. But it was a BIIIGGGG mistake.
The worst of it is that we missed some great vacation memories on video, because it always breaks when you need it.
