Fun and easy to use. Mine has lasted over a year now, and no problems. I did strip the frothing wand, and had to get a replacement. I took it off to clean, every time I used it. most likely something I should have not done.
Customer service was a bit more difficult too find than I would have liked.
For years I wanted a Francis Francis x1. But with the ever shrinking buck, every year it would just get more and more expensive. And more out of reach, Or beyond justification. This is a wonderful compromise, I think it looks even cooler than Francis.
I used a 50 buck Krups machine for years and this is a very nice upgrade. The coffee is wonderful, and I have been drinking espresso, and collecting machines since 1966.
There are two toggle Switches, one off and on. And the other is a three way with the center position being neutral,Pushing the toggle down and the pump starts working and about 12
seconds later, you are brewing your coffee. The heat exchanger automatically stops at 212. if the other toggle is in the neutral position The heat light then goes off. The up position on the three way toggle makes steam You have to wait until the light goes off which is around 300 degrees and about a minute later. then you pull the handle. So you have an off/on switch, and a three way switch. And a handle which is much more fun then a knob. That's about all the instructions you need.
They talk about making hot water which is basically making coffee in terms of settings and temperature All you do is pull down the handle and the water comes down and out the steam wand. This is good to do if you have been gone a few days and you want to get the water out of the machine that has been sitting in the boiler.
