Author's Review
In acknowledgment of my middle-agedness, I joined AARP and bought my first Cadillac on the same day. The AARP does nothing for me, but the EXT makes me feel younger every time I drive it! My other vehicle is a BMW 540 Sport Wagon, and I can describe the handling, acceleration, and comfort of my EXT as the same as a "5600 pound BMW." The EXT suspension and drivetrain are excellent, the engine power is always as much as you need, and the interior apppointments are well done. It corners flat, and is highly stable. The leather smells wonderful, and the seats are very comfortable. It has various computer functions that are driver-programmable (unlike my BMW), and the Bose system can crank loud enough to compensate for my degraded middle-aged hearing. As hard as it may be to believe, I also use my EXT as a truck, and the cargo area converts as easily as the advertising would have you believe. The OnStar system is very good. Before you buy, remember that this is a luxury vehicle, and the entry fee and operating costs are high. The laws of physics apply here, so don't expect to generate 345 hp to move about three tons without depleting some of the Earth's fossil fuel reserves. So far, I feel like I have gotten what I paid for - a distinctive, luxurious, and safe SUV that can haul yucky cargo. It would have been nice, however, to have a cargo area pass-through that does not require the fold-down of both rear seats.(P.S. - It is an absolute hoot to throw this beast around on the twisties.)
