2002 Cadillac Escalade

Pros: power, comfort, AWD, did I say power?
Cons: interior could be better, OnStar service is poor

The Bottom Line:
If you are looking for power and comfort, you won't be disappointed.
This is the ultimate SUV on the market right now. The appearance is unique and may not be for everyone, but I think it looks great.
I wanted a luxury vehicle that could tow up to 8K pounds, and that left few contenders. I previously used a Lariat Ford V10 F350, but when the Escalade showed up with more horses and a lot more creature comforts, I took the plunge and traded up.
I am completely happy with the Escalade and can offer little in the way of suggestions for improvements, except that for the price they could have included night vision, like the other Caddies have. The OnStar service doesn't work very well where I live, but others may not share this experience. I won't be renewing my subscription next year. I also think that the interior is typical 'North American' and the dash could have had a less plastic look to it. What is it about North American cars and plastic molding?
I pull about 6K lbs usually, and have great visibility with the Escalade. It doesn't have as much stopping power as a big pickup, but it's got horsepower to spare and doesn;t ride like one either. Electric brakes on the trailer overcome any braking issues under load. The stereo is great and everyone loves the seat warmers in all seats! The stabilitrac system works very well and this SUV has a surprisingly small turning ratio. All in all it is worth the price and for me is better than higher priced SUV's such as Lexus and Mercedes that are all looks and no play. The Escalade has the guts to get real work done.
