BUST A GROOVE 2 continues the PlayStation dance party. Choose a dancer, each created using motion-captured technology and featuring new costumes. After picking a dancer, hit the dance floor in the Practice mode to get a feel for the controls. When practice is over, hit the dance scene in the One-Player mode, where the goal is to get the crowd and the camera to pay exclusive attention to you. How well you dance will determine what the next challenge will be. When your groove becomes too hot for the computer to handle, compete against friends with the Two-Player mode. No matter what mode you play, new ska, techno, disco, and hip-hop house beats provide the background for all of the action. If hearing music makes you want to shake your booty, then BUST A GROOVE 2 is the game for you.

Pros: fun music, cool characters
Cons: if you get to a tough song, the beat gets fast, and you might have to listen to the same song 10 times in a row... a little annoying when that happens!
I fell in love with this type of dancing game while playing a Playstation Jam Pack demo disk. There was a demo of the first Bust A Groove and after I played that, I was in love.
By the time I was able to purchase Bust A Groove, it was already discontinued for many of my local stores. So I finally gave up... But then, I saw Bust A Groove 2! I was so happy.
It's got 18 characters, 12 new songs, lots of new dance moves, and an all new scoring system! One of the things that makes it so fun is when you pass the game with a character, you get a secret character added on to the character list. You start with 10 characters, and hopefully end up with the full 18.
The object of the game is to dance "wilder" than your opponent. To do this, there are a combination of arrows you press in a time frame of 4 beats. On the 4th beat you have to hit the last button to "bust a groove" otherwise... you stumble all over, and the announcer talks down to you.
The songs are very catchy. There are a few that are kind of... well.. annoying after a while. Boy do they stick in your head. My parents hear me playing it, and when they come home from work that night they say "Melissa, I could not get so and so song out of my head!!"
It is an extremely fun and exciting game. It builds your hand / ear coordination (if there is such a thing). I'd recommend it to teens just wanting to have fun playing a video game. Or kids who don't have very good coordination. Even kids who are interested in a musical instrument, or dancing.
It's a fun game. Non violent. (unless you consider dropping a cake on someone to get more points violent hehe) It may even develop better coordination.
