In Walt Disney Pictures' feature BROTHER BEAR, beautiful animation of the Pacific Northwest complements an upbeat musical score that includes songs by Phil Collins and Tina Turner. From snowcapped mountains and glaciers to lush springtime forest scenes, the colorful drawings are dazzling and dreamlike. Children will especially enjoy the animals in the film. There are rivers full of leaping salmon, forests inhabited by squirrels and chipmunks, and processions of giant wooly mammoths. The story carries messages about the power of friendship and community, the difficulty of losing a loved one, and the highs and lows of growing up. Kenai (Joaquin Phoenix) is a boy who longs to become a man but must learn a valuable lesson before he can achieve the maturity it requires. At a tribal ceremony the spirits give him the symbol of the bear, which stands for love. Then, through a series of events, he is transformed into a bear. Kenai must brave the wild, with only a little bear-cub brother, Koda (Jeremy Suarez), to ...

Brother Bear
If you ever want to see a good movie then get this one. Brother Bear is one of the few Disney movies that has beautifully designed and painted panoramas and a couple of good Phil Collins songs thrown in.
Brother bear begins as the youngest of three brothers, Kenai is preparing for his right of the passage ceremony. Kenai is very selfish and immature to make his transition to manhood. He must learn to live his life with love and patience.
The story pics up after Kenai is transformed into a bear by the spirits because he killed one. The spirits want him to learn his lesson, and this is their way of showing it. Now he can learn what life is like on the other side. To become a human again, Kenai must journey to the place where the lights touch the earth, to meet again with the spirit of his brother Sitka who was killed by a bear, and this is the only way he can be changed back.
On his journey, he meets Rutt and Tuke, the goof-off characters in the movie. They are two moose who have an overdone canadian accent. He also meets Koda, an orphaned baby bear who promises to take him to where the lights touch the earth in exchange for companionship and love. Wisely here these animals talk, but only to other animals, not to humans.
As the film begins to end it has an amazing twist to the story. Kenai finds that Koda is an orphan by his hand and that he can and will give up anything for love.
Brother Bear has lots of beauty and fun to it. Phil Collin's music brings out the best in it. His songs talk about love and forgiveness which relate to the movie perfectly.
When I watched this movie for this first time, I cried, even though I was 18 years old. I honestly think this is my favorite movie of all time. No other movie can portray such love and compassion on animals, nature, and ture love.
Such compassion was in this animated movie by Disney and it has made very good success.
Now on dvd, Brother Bear is a story of overcoming selfishness and realizing that you have to humble yourself to lead the kind of life you want. Kenai couldn't fix his problem until he humbled himself and realized that he had made a mistake and that nothing would change until he fixed his mistake.
I honestly love this movie, and I recommend it to everyone! It has absolutely no degrading parts or vanity. It is just a good story of love and friendship. I still watch this movie and cry because it has such a good lesson! Brother Bear is in my opinion the best Disney movie ever made!
