PrintShop Business Card Creator
Ive grown a major love for graphic production. It is almost as impeccable to me as singing and music production. I am starting to believe that anything that keeps me busy and productive is something that will fascinate me. Nevertheless, it is something I think enables me to move further in my business. All businesses need things and I am grateful to possess the patience it takes to build websites and create business cards, fliers, newsletters and all the things that I need as they become necessary.
Recently I have been finding all these computer programs that I feel have major importance, especially for my second gig. I found a program that creates logos called Summitsoft Logo Design Shop which I thought was pretty cool because that program helps me to create decent logos that I can put on such things as business card, newsletters, fliers and t-shirts. What I also thought was a great investment was the next program I have added to my program collection called The Print Shop Business Card Creator.
The Print Shop Business Card Creator is a great program to add to your collection. It is a home graphic software that gives you the convenience of creating quality business cards from your own home. Here is the catch: you can get 1,000 business cards professionally made, created in black and white for about $10 and you don't have to use your own time, ink or paper. You can just order t hem from a supplier and pick them up when they are ready. With this program, you build your own business card designs whether it be with colors, graphics or different styles of font, but you have to supply your own card stock and your own ink. Had I not been such a graphic print lover, I probably would have gone with getting the 1,000 business cards for ten bucks, but I actually enjoy the process of creating and designing, so I went with the latter.
The Print Shop has a pretty good reputation. I am accustomed to using their programs. I downloaded onto my system their program Resume Pro which did a great job in helping me build a professional and quality looking resume. I had also used their greeting card programs in the past, before I started using an Windows XP PC. Before I starting using The Print Shop Business Card Creator, I had been creating my business cards through Word Perfect. Word Perfect has a program called Expert, which helps you build business cards. The Word Perfect program I though was cool and convenient but The Print Shop Business Card Creator is a little bit more unique and gave me a more satisfying feeling after all was done.
Here is why:
The Word Perfect Expert Business Card creator lets you choose from 9 different templates including Cubes, Deco1, Deco 2, Deco 3, Dots, Pen, Network, Origami, or Watermark. These are all nice layouts for a basic card. The Print shop program offers 523 different layouts you can choose from with categories that range from business to personal and so forth. All the different layouts made me feel as if the money I spent to purchase the program was so worth it. Some of the different layouts include Computer cards, Consultant design, Flower Shop cards, High End Look, Fun Cards, Money Hungry Cards, Music Shop design and XYZ Corporation cards, just to name a few. Just from the different layouts types that the 2 different programs offered gave me the knowledge that I was on the right path with my new business card program.
After you choose your layout for the new project you start, you can choose from a number of different options featured on the left side of your work area. The first bullet is where you find your art gallery. From the art gallery, you can choose art or photos to add to your business card. Graphic types range from black and white, color, fine art, photos, clipped photos, JFIF Compliant (JPG), Print Square Graphics (PSG) or Windows Metafiles. Combined, you can choose from about 1,000 or more graphic images. There are so many images, that you might get stuck looking through the images just to choose one before even starting to really create the card. The images are arranged in different categories which are:
Animals
Architect
Art
Backgrounds
Borders
Business
Celebrations
Clothing
Crafts
Education
Entertainment
Farming
Flowers
Food
Geography
Hardware & Garden
Headlines
Health
History
Holidays
House & Home
Military
Nature
People
Professions
Recreation & Leisure
Religion
Science & Technology
Shapes
Sports
Symbols
Transportation
Travel
The next bullet in the options section is the text box here you can write and edit your text and choose from over 280 different font types, some of them I thought were pretty cool to use as opposed to the ordinary Time New Roman or Arial, you can choose from fonts like Antique, A Yummy Apology, Gaslight or Treasure, just to name a few.
With the next bullet, you can add effects to your panel like backdrop, watermark or Panel Color and texture. You can choose from a number of different backdrop designs they have created for the background of your card, upload your own background from your computer, create your own watermarks from scratch or pick a color and play with it to lay on your card the way that fits you or you can choose a texture like wooden tile. I made double sided cards so I created a watermark for the back of the cards and it came out pretty nice.
The next bullet allows you to add frames to your business cards. There about 51 frames you can choose from with the ability to edit it and add an outline or shadow if you want to make your card have a unique appeal.
The next couple of bullets you can customize your graphics, and make it your own, almost like a log. You can add text and use different graphics and update the color and gradients of it and make it your own. You can add a seal like an African, Greek band or Sicilian Peacock with images like a baseball player, Cross stitch, or trophy in the center. You can create a timepiece and add your own time frame to it or you can add your own personal signature to your business card to make it a more personalized card.
The next bullet is the Photo workshop. It allows you to upgrade an objects look. You can add a shadow, or upgrade the gradients. You can even import your own image from your computer into the Print Shop and use it for your business card if that is the look you desire to have for the new business card you are creating. The next three tables are a table creator, a drawing tool, and an address book/date reminder.
What I really liked about The Print Shop Business Card Creator is that you have the ability to create one card without having to create the same card 9 more times just to print like the Word Perfect Expert would. You create one and when you look at your Print Preview, your business shows up as ten ready to print.
Like I said, this is a really great program to have if you like the power of adding your own personal touch to your things. For the best professional look, pick up glossy white heavyweight business card sheets and print your business cards on that. It is pretty good paper and you don't have to use a paper cutter and try on your own to figure out the size you are supposed to cut your business card down to. Another good thing about this product is that you can print them as you need and not have to put in an order and wait a week or two. If you really have a need to give a business card to someone in a hurry, you can print it out easily and not have to hold onto the stress of not having one.
The Print Shop Business Card Creator was made for Windows 95/98/2000, ME or Windows NT 4 or Windows XP and requires 128 MB RAM. This program is easy to download and easy to navigate. Anybody can become equipped to this program because there is nothing to it. You just pop it into your CD-Rom drive, download it onto your computer and then open it up and use with the convenience of it being home. I think that any start-up business should consider picking up this program. I consider it an asset.
