CLEAN UP MY STUBBLE NOW! I COMMAND YOU!

Author's Rating: Rating: 5/5 stars

Pros: Easy to use, Cleans itself, good battery life.

Cons: Little spendy but worth it. Cleaning solution is expensive.

The Bottom Line:
When it comes down to buying a grooming device that’s more then a couple of bucks I'm skeptical. Except for this shaver.

Introduction

Well I am in the culinary industry. I work at an Italian restaurant as a general manager. I work all stations including cook as a main job and as a server. As someone who works up front you can't afford to look 'scruffy' as my boss calls it. It's not that I didn't shave it's just that I didn't like braking out the shaving cream, wetting the Mach 3, shaving, wait for my face to stop bleeding from the nix’s in my face, put on the cologne and then finish getting ready.
Now that you know my predicament it's fairly obvious my solution was to buy the Braun 7680......

Well, is the initial money down worth it?

Just like any home electronic in your home it's an investment. And it's not a cheap one either. I paid around 150 bucks for mine when it first came out. Here are some things to keep in mind BEFORE purchasing this product.

1. Electric shavers are convenient pieces of machinery, and do not shave as close as a regular wet blade. (ex. Mach 3)There is no current electric blade on the market that is as close either.
2. Since this electric shaver cleans itself you have to be willing to buy the cleaning solution, which is $10.00 dollars for a 2 pack. 1 cleaning solution seems to last about 3 weeks or so. That’s about $120 dollars a year.
3. The electric shaver; as mentioned previously, is abnormally expensive, on the average about $150 dollars.
4. The charge station that holds the actual shaver, is fairly bulky, and may not match your bathroom decor.

So don't buy it?

If the four things I mentioned above don't scare you off to not wanting to buy this razor then you can pretty much trust me when I say that this is a SOLID investment.
I have owned mine for about 13 months or so and it still feels like a new shave every time I use it.

What's to fan-tabulous about this Madoola?

Well there are plenty of great things about this shaver that I like.
It's greatest feature in my opinion is the auto-cleaning solution. Like another famous product out there you can just put it on the holder and "set it, and forget it."
The cleaning solution is made up of pretty much just rubbing alcohol and a little bit of machine oil, with a lemon scent to it.
I remember I went on vacation about 3 months ago and didn't shave for about six days or so, when I got home and shaved I took off the foil cover and looked inside the shaver to see it just covered with all my stubble. I put it in the stand and fifteen minutes later when it was done cleaning, I took off the foil cover and saw that the cutting block and foil cover was just as clean as when I first got it. I thought for sure I was going to need to run it through the cleaning solution again but I was wrong. It does a GREAT job on cleaning itself. A

It's apparent when seeing the commercial for this shaver on TV a year or so ago that Braun was pumping up the fact that this shaver has a very unique head that contours to your face, and has a four way pivoting head for an easier shave.
While it does contour to your face quite nicely the 4 way pivoting head doesn't seem to really help all that much it barely moves in those directions and when it does I don't understand how that's supposed to help me get a close shave?
Either way it's a nice feature and it doesn't feel so rough on your face like other electric shavers.
I really like how the foil block is incredibly thin but tough. This is important since this is one of the major factors of having a close shave.

Am I going to get dry skin, or am I going to be smooth like a babies... well you know....

This was one of the things I was very nervous about when it came to buying an electric. Yes it's convenient but if I'm having noticeably dry skin is this going to be worth the money? I was especially worried about this when I saw that the cleaning solution was made of rubbing alcohol mixture.
Well the good news is that this razor doesn't burn when rubbing it on your face, and since it cleans the shaver thoroughly, and dries it very thoroughly you shouldn't have a problem.

What else?

Another really cool feature is that you can see exactly how much battery life is left in the shaver by an LED display that will tell you how many minutes of shave time are left in the battery.

It will also tell you if it needs to be cleaned, if it’s over heating, or if it needs more oil. (You should never see it need oil if you use the cleaning solution since it has a little oil mixed with it to keep it well lubricated)

For some reason Braun recommends that you take off the foil cover and clean the blade with the supplied cleaning brush about once a week, but I find that I never need to since it cleans itself so well.
Another great thing about this thing is that once your face can handle the change from a wet blade to a dry one you can shave your face within 3-5 minutes. Which is a great thing seeing how a wet shave generally takes about 10-12 minutes. There are dry shavers out there that aren't up to par and can take as long as a wet blade, which pretty much defeats the purpose of the whole 'convenience' of the dry electric shaver.
Braun recommends that you replace the foil cover and blade every 18 months which is nice since those parts cost about $25 dollars.
The battery life is very adequate I have to charge mine about every 10-12 days and it only takes about an hour to charge.

The shaver also has a side burn trimmer which works flawlessly, do keep in mind I said flawlessly so be careful before you go cutting any hair. =)

So....what's this Syncro Smart Logic technology thingy?

So according to Braun the shaver will learn your shaving patterns and adapt to them. Meaning if you are someone to use your shaver and charge it when you’re done with it, it will recognize that. Let’s say you forget to charge it one time it will figure that you meant to and auto-magically charge it for you. My self, I let my shaver run just about out before I charge it just cause I've always been told to run out rechargeable batteries then charge them to pro-long life.

In conclusion

I think if your willing to spend the money on a electric shaving system, plus the investment of the not so cheap cleaning solution, and the once every year and a couple of months of a new foil and blade for $25 dollars then you won't be sorry with this product. It's great especially if you are in a hurry and have to do a quick shave.
