Pros: Powerful, Convenient, and Versatile. Best in it's class, I would say.
Cons: None
The Bottom Line:
I really love this little machine, and I keep on trying to find opportunities to give it as a gift, as I know it will be well appreciated.
This is a little powerhouse of a machine. I've had mine for over a year, and have enjoyed it. I use it at least 5 times a week, in many different ways.
Utility: I use the chopper blade and bowl attachment almost every day. It does herbs, garlic, onion, bread crumbs, and makes a mean guacamole in under 60 seconds...green onion, zzzzzzzzzzzip, tomato, ziiiiiiiip, avacado, zzzzzzzzzip, a squeeze of lemon and you're done. It chops food into even size pieces with a pulse action, and has two speeds to further give you control. I have a fresh herb garden out back, and often go outside before dinner, grab a handful of leaves and 30 seconds later they are minced fine to garnish a soup or vegetable.
I haven't used the immersion function quite as much, but it does work quite well. It's great for pureeing soups, baked sweet potatoes and such.
The whisk is useful, but hard to control and a little messy. I usually end up using a hand mixer or my Kitchen Aid stand mixer for those jobs. If you wanted to keep your kitchen equipment at a minimum though, it will do egg whites and whipped cream (I've used it for both)
Features: The power unit has two speeds, which gives you more control than many similar machines. It is VERY easy to put the attachments on and off, which facilitates adding ingredients, and doing multiple ingredients in succession. Everything but the powerstick goes in the dishwasher, and it won't take up the whole top rack either, like a full size food processor does.
Price: It's not the cheapest unit out there, but the 400 watt motor, two speeds, and multiple uses make it worth the 45 to 60 dollar price tag.
My conclusion:
If you have a small kitchen and need a powerful multi-tasker that doesn't take up much room, this is a great choice. If you have a big kitchen and just love appliances that work well, this is a great choice too. It overlaps somewhat the uses of a food processor, but has a wider range of uses at a smaller capacity...fine for a single person or empty nesters like ourselves. If you have a large family you may still want it just because you can get many jobs done with it without dragging out the bulkier and harder to clean food processor.
