I was given a Moulinex centrifugal juicer some months ago and quickly fell in love with the whole concept of juicing. After a long period of daily use, the Moulinex literally flew apart into pieces and I looked for a replacement.
The Braun MP 80 was the only reasonable model I could find in local retail stores, and I was too impatient to order something by mail. Besides, the MP 80 looked like an improvement over my Moulinex in several respects: better pulp ejection system, easier to clean, and a juice collector that you lets you separate foam from juice. Finally, I have been satisfied with Braun products in the past, so how bad could this one be?
Pretty bad. The main problem is the amount of pulp in the juice. This has been noted by other reviewers but I was used to a little pulp and expected it to be tolerable. However this is not a little pulp, it is a lot. My juice-oriented family refused to drink it.
Another disappointment was the pulp ejection system. The large pulp collector is good, but too often the pulp gets clogged up in the top before it gets to the collector. I had to take it apart and remove the pulp a couple of times just to make two glasses of juice.
To add insult to injury, the various juicer pieces didn't come very clean in my dishwasher. I am not going to wash a juicer every day by hand. What do you think I am, crazy?
Since writing this opinion, I have returned the Braun and purchased an Omega 4000 which I am much happier with. You can read my opinion on the Omega elsewhere on epinions.
