Prior reviews of the Bosch TKA 9110 cited issues with durability and coffee temperature. Bosch appears to have made corrections in both areas. First a prior review stated that the water pot leaked. Bosch appears to have added an additional seal to prevent this from occurring. Second coffee temperature can only be described as scalding.

I replaced a cone filter pot with the Bosch TKA 9110. Basically with my old pot one boiled water in a tea kettle and dumped it over the grounds all at once. Many people consider this method of making coffee as one of the best. Coffee brewed by the Bosch TKA 9110’s is indistinguishable from my old cone pot. I consider this as a strong positive.

With respect to ease of use the removable water reservoir makes setup simple. Just lift off the water reservoir and fill it with water (in my case from a filtered water faucet). When you replace the reservoir on the TKA 9110’s base, water is drawn into the unit by a connection at the bottom of the reservoir.

Grounds are held in a removable #2 cone filter holder, just over the vacuum pot. The TKA 9110 also includes a reusable “gold” #2 filter. Both the holder and the reusable filter are dishwasher safe.

A vacuum carafe which holds eight cups is somewhat bulky but maintains coffee temperature for many hours. A negative to the design of the carafe is that it cannot be dropped (pun intended) into the dishwasher given its construction.

Other than the Bunn coffee maker this is the only unit which cites a stainless heater. I didn’t want to be drinking corrosion from an aluminum heating element.

Does this unit make coffee better than another coffee maker? Depends on your frame of reference…. In my opinion coffee taste is in the league with the best. Ease of use sets this unit above others.
