Ok...My husband bought this coffee maker at a local discount store for $20.00 tax. My Krups coffee maker had finally brewed it's last pot after all of the years, and it was time for a replacement. I opened it up, and washed it thoroughly, inside and out. I made the first pot, and while it was brewing, it caused such a stench in my kitchen, that I thought that I was burning dinner!
I thought that was maybe because it was new, and the plastic was heating up for the first time...When I made the coffee, it tasted like a nice, steaming cup of liquid plastic! I threw that pot of coffee away, washed the machine again, and started over. The same thing happened again! I packed it up, boiled a pot of water to make some coffee on the stove, and returned that piece of junk to the store the very next morning!
