The Z3 enters the 2000 model year undergoing numerous changes. New for 2000, exterior revisions include chrome rings around the headlights, L-shaped tail lights and white turn signal indicators, similar to those on the M coupe/roadster. In addition, six new exterior colors and two new interior trim combinations were added. The interior is upgraded with the addition of a three-spoke M Technic sport steering wheel and a redesigned center console with analog clock. The Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) system is now standard on all models except for the M coupe/roadster. The enhanced Harmon/Kardon audio system remains standard on all 2.8 models. Optional equipment includes leather seats, an on-board computer and a power moonroof.

High-performance, Exclusive Thoroughbred Z8: A Head-Turner!
| Author's Rating: |

Pros: All you ever wanted in a vehicle: Speed, great looks, fastest and most powerful engine with great safety amenities; A testosterone kind of car!
Cons: Too expensive and made for an exclusive group!

A good friend of mine, working at a local dealership, once told me that if he manages to purchase this BMW Z8 this year, he will stop applying and taking his testosterone-boosting gel and supplement! My first reaction was to laugh my heart out. I could not believe a rather conservative, church-going middle-aged man making such a statement. I tease him and ask him whether he can't keep up with his much younger girlfriend. It was all friendly banter between friends. He made a good point with this super hot BMW that is sure to turn heads all over California and the rest of the country.
BMW of North America sure has a best-seller in their hands
Not only is the Z8 elegant, classic-looking and packed with power, the technology that brings it out is superb. It is a well-designed vehicle that the design and engineering departments can be proud of. In addition to its technical designs, the Z8 comes with a a styling and high performance that make it a stand out at the Convention Center in Los Angeles this year. Therefore, it beats the following finalists that have been the top luxury vehicles so far: Porsche, Ferrari, Mercedez-Benz and Lexus.
The Z8 is named Robb Report's 2001 Car of the Year. If you look for this magazine, you may also read my review. It has a well-known history of evaluating high-end, very expensive products, resorts, toys, and services. It's not a light distinction for BMW North America. From a marketing point of view, this is the biggest marketing boost the company may have received in a long time.
What makes the Z8 a thoroughbred, top luxury car
Let's take a look at all the features this vehicle comes equiped with
The Z8 is powered by M5 V8 engine that is capable of producing 394 horse power and 368 lb.ft torque. A 6-speed manual transmission is mounted on it. It comes with all-season traction, dynamic stability control and a starter button.
In my opinion, safety is the most important feature that the Z8 has
* Hands-free Star TAC cellular phone
* Roll-over protection
* Side-impact airbags (for driver and passenger)
* Fog lamps in the front and rear (That's superb because the Bay Area, the Central Valley of CA are too unforgiving)
* Anti-theft and keyless remote entry.
In short, it comes with all the standard amenities such as air conditioner, heated leather seats, Nappa Leather Interior, anti-lock brakes, power mirrors, cruise controls etc.
The Z8 represents elegance and excellence on the road. No wonder that my limited test-drive was limited to the nearby parking area. I don't blame these people either!
