The Z3 enters the 2000 model year undergoing numerous changes. New for 2000, exterior revisions include chrome rings around the headlights, L-shaped tail lights and white turn signal indicators, similar to those on the M coupe/roadster. In addition, six new exterior colors and two new interior trim combinations were added. The interior is upgraded with the addition of a three-spoke M Technic sport steering wheel and a redesigned center console with analog clock. The Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) system is now standard on all models except for the M coupe/roadster. The enhanced Harmon/Kardon audio system remains standard on all 2.8 models. Optional equipment includes leather seats, an on-board computer and a power moonroof.

One Wednesday afternoon, in fact, yesterday afternoon, I traveled 200 miles to a dealer in Connecticut who actually had this machine for test drives. This was miraculous, and I just had to do it.
After a lengthy test drive, I was completely amazed and inspired by this car. Of course, if one were to spend the $120,000 plus the huge premium for these things, they'd naturally expect to be amazed. But this was extraordinary.
First Impressions
Judging from the rarity of the Z8 in America, it was exciting just to hear that I could drive 200 miles to drive it. I needed an appointment! When seeing the car, I was instantly reminded of the movie that introduced the car and made it famous. So stylish, so sporty, it was as if there were bomb-decoding lasers on the hood, as well as retractable wings. That, however, is another endeavor.
Appearance
As you can see from the picture, the appearance is just a slightly altered version of the 2000 Z3, possibly more sporty looking, with Porsche-esque headlights. Not much else going on in this field, just a little bigger, louder, with more flare. Something small has always bothered me in the Z-series design, but I do not know quite what it is.

Performance
The standard 5-liter, V8, 394 horsepower engine is incredibly powerful, but naturally only gets you 13/21 gas mileage. In the Summer 2000 gas market, that will become costly, but as a percentage of the price of the car, you shouldn't have to worry. Standard and required is a six-speed manual transmission, what else did you expect in a roadster? In more opinionated terms, the engine is incredibly powerful, and you will never feel strained to accelerate or maintain speeds. Handling is excellent as well. This car is made as a racing machine.

Well, this is a must-own for any true connessieur, or someone who just got a big Christmas bonus and feels like livening up their morning commute. If you dreamed of being Jeff Gordon, here's as close as you'll get, just be careful about speeding tickets!
