New for 1997, the M3 gets a minor facelift and an all new sedan model is introduced. Also new is BMWs Scheduled Maintenance Program, which includes all factory recommended periodic maintenance for the first three years or 36,000 miles at no extra cost. The manual transmission is newly equipped with a starter interlock that requires the clutch pedal to be depressed before the starter will operate. Standard features include leather and wood interior, limited slip differential, traction control and 17 inch cast alloy wheels. Options include forged alloy wheels, compact disc changer, power outside heated mirrors, and heated seats. Also available is a Luxury Package which includes 8-way power seats, lower rocker panel moldings and a front air dam.
