Great deal for portable dvd

Pros: Price for sure!
Cons: Design flaw with battery; lousy remote
The Bottom Line:
I think for the price its hard to pass up.
Just bought mine at Costco for $280. I saw it there for same price a few weeks ago and they went fast (its also available for that price at costco.com). So, when I sought it again, I grabbed it. I have been holding off on buying the full blown dvd system for our minivan (mostly because of price). I really bought this thing for trips on the road...for the kids. I am glad I bought it. The picture is great. The little speakers are pretty pathetic but we've been using it with either headphones or the little transmitter I picked up at radio Shack for $30 that plugs into the audio out on the unit and allows you to receive the audio on a selected FM frequency on you car stereo. (irock wireless music adapter model 300w). I also bought a really awesome case I highly recommend made by Targus called the Road Warrior ($70). It is 2 useful things in one...a quality carrying case for the unit, cables and dvds etc; and a detachable nifty platform thingy with straps that allows you to place the dvd behind one of the front seats or between them. This thing is great. My only complaint about the player itself is what another reviewer said...you can't charge the battery while using the player and with only one ac adapter, your only option is to either use it to use the player or charge the battery.
Battery life seems good. The remote is a joke. It does not even have volume control on it (not that you will really rely on those little speakers anyway).
To summarize: I spent a total of about $400 on this portable dvd player ($280)(and a couple of accessories...$105) that is a perfectly acceptable mobile unit (can be mounted securely and easily in different places with sound through car stereo). Also, when I get where we're going it can be brought in and used through the hotel tv or one of the kids can watch a movie on it privately with headphones.
