Pros: cheap, includes car adapter, 5 hour battery
Cons: freezes, and skips, sound quality, must use remote
The Bottom Line:
Don't buy this one. Freezing picture will drive your kids insane.
This is my second try at the Audiovox 1730. This one has the exact same problems as the previous one I owned. It freezes and skips after about an hour and a half of viewing a DVD. I searched a few of the Forums on the Net, and found others are having the same problem. That is the major problem. The problem is the thing gets really hot. So after it heats up, it freezes. Our solution for car rides is to put an ice pack under the DVD player. That seems to help.
On the plus side, it is one of the few that comes with the car adapter. Saves you some additional dollars on your purchase. Picture quality is pretty good.
One last thing is I strongly recommend noise canceling headphones when watching a portable DVD player on an airplane. Makes a big difference.
