2006 A4

2006 A4

Audi is preparing a major mid-cycle freshening of its A4 sedan and wagon, prior to a full ground-up redesign thats planned for 2008. The face-lifted A4 debuts this fall in Europe and should arrive in U.S. dealerships next spring, probably as a 2006 model.

Luxury + Power

Author's Rating: Rating: 5/5 stars

Pros: Comfortable and adequate power

Cons: Too big to be a true sports car

The Bottom Line:
Perfect merge of sport and luxury.

This car marked my entrance into the luxury car market and I have to say that Audi has hit a gold mine with this car. It perfectly bridges the comforts of leather seats, fancy trim, and Bose audio system with the power of a 2.0 liter turbo engine and the stability of AWD. The suspension is surprisingly soft when cruising and rigid when really driving. Fuel efficiency can exceed 30MPG on the highway and fairs pretty well for city driving with an average in the mid to upper 20MPG. The AWD is convenient for heading to the snow and the power is more than ample for jumping in front of cars at a stop light or merging onto the freeway. My only complaint about the car is the size. It has plenty of room to fit 4 adults comfortably in both the front and the back which tends to make the car a bit on the longer and heavier side and therefore takes away from the handling...but hey, that's not why you buy an A4. I would not hesitate to buy the car again and encourage anyone looking at the BMW 3, Mercedes 230, or Lexus IS300 to rightfully consider the A4 in their shopping.
