Black iPod Touch 8 GB
LOOK AND DESIGN
As it has been for years now, the iPod touch continues to be at the top of the game when it comes to relative design and beauty. It is slim once again and actually lighter now. The weight of the phone has dropped from 115g to 101g. It now has rounded edges with the same glossy black and aluminum back plate. It is thinner then the 3rd Generation iPod touch. The easy touch screen is in HD, placing it at the top of the heap. It truly is amazing how so much can be in this little iPod.
INCLUDED
The 4th Generation Apple iPod touch only comes with the basic accessories. It comes with earphones, an USB cable, and a starter guide. The earphones are mediocre. I would suggest an upgrade so the music quality is better. In addition, I would suggest buying an AC inverter or 12V car charger to have with your purchase. The sound quality with new earphones would be much better then the original ones that come with the phone.
BATTERY LIFE
The battery life for this iPod touch has advanced, especially for listening to music. You can now listen to 40 hours of music on one battery life. This number is only accurate with the display off. It was a much needed upgrade from the last Apple iPod touch. You can also get 7 hours of video, which is an hour longer then the 3rd Generation iPod touch. But if you travel, as stated above, make sure you purchase an extra charger. It is much improved compared to the 3rd Generation iPod touch.
PICTURE QUALITY
The screen quality for the 4th Generation iPod touch is much improved from the last iPod touch. Apple has introduced the retina display, which is a high quality picture. This one has a picture resolution of 960x640 pixels. It adds up to 326 pixels per inch, which is highly detailed. The old iPod touch had a screen resolution of 480x320 pixels, which is a large difference from the new iPod. The screen is so clear that the naked eye cannot see the pixels in the screen. Images on the iPod touch stay clear the entire time. The screen automatically adjusts the brightness and saves battery life also. You will be amazed by the picture quality this iPod touch brings. Everything is crystal clear, a much improved iPod from the original picture screen.
PROCESSING SPEED
You can instantly see the difference in processing time compared to the other iPod touch. Everything is much faster. The 4th Generation Apple iPod touch has the 1GHz A4 processor. For those of us that don't understand the terms, this is similar to what is run in iPhones and iPads. It is another great upgrade by Apple. This iPod also has 256MB of RAM.
FEATURES AND APPS
It is truly amazing how far technology has come in the last few years and this iPod touch falls into that category. Some of the built in features on the iPod are iTunes, WiFi, and Ping. iTunes gives you access to any kind of music you want. Ping is a social group program that allows you to share music, add friends, and allows friends to view your music catalog. It also has FaceTime, which allows you to chat live using your camera, microphone, or speakers. You do need Wifi though in order to use it. But with all the WiFi zones now in service, it is a nice feature. You can also chat and upload photos. You also have GameCenter, which gives you access to play games and invite friends to play along. You also can download free games on your iPod.
The 4th Generation Apple iPod also has the Safari web browser. As I stated before, the processing speed is great and it allows for multitasking. The only down side is that it is not supported by Java or Flash. Still yet, the speed is great. It allows you to multitask without hesitation. You can also get the Google app, which allows you access to the Google search engine. For those of you that enjoy music, the Pandora app is also available.
You have access to all kinds of different applications on this iPod. There are many shopping apps, from Ebay to Wal-Mart. You have free calling local and international through a company called Skype. You also have local and international chat through WiFi. You have email access and the HD video is great. You have access to many different chat apps. You can also access the Sirius/Xm radio app or internet radio.
CAMERAS
On this iPod touch, you now have two cameras on both sides of the iPod. For an iPod, it really does take good pictures. You can store the pictures very easily. The picture quality is not perfect, but it is much better then the previous iPod.
FAULTS
The earphones that come with this iPod are not really music capable. You really need to upgrade for your music. There really is no bass capability with this iPod. Also, when you use your camera, there is no flash. That completely allows no photos to be taken in dark areas. The phone also has GPS, but it is not reliable. The GPS relies on a WiFi connection.
OVERALL
Overall, the 4th Generation Apple iPod touch is much improved from the 3rd generation. The 8GB has been great for me, but I am not big on the music. I would recommend anyone to purchase the 32GB or 64GB if they planto store many things. You really can't beat the extra space for the price Apple charges. The capability of this iPod touch is like no other. You can literally do many things. If you enjoy the 3rd Generation iPod touch, you will fall in love over again with this one. Apple is a brand that you can trust and confidence is always high. The quality of the picture is great. Bottom line, it is worth every penny paid.
