The Pocket DV4500 is the first AIPTEK digital camcorder employing MPEG4 format to store video clips. The DV4500 is capable of recording much longer (3 times) than traditional AVI format devices. An additional advantage of MPEG4, is to keep your recorded files small while retaining video and sound in TV-quality. Being a multi-function camera, the Pocket DV4500 is an indispensable companion for you to create and enjoy movies, high-resolution photos, MP3 music, voice annotation, as well as online video conferencing. Good for the money

Author's Rating: Rating: 4/5 stars

Pros: Very flexible for the cost. Easy to use.

Cons: Low quality lens, Pictures are okay but not great.

The Bottom Line:
Get this camera if you like mixing video and pictures. It is really nice to be able to switch between both with a single device!

If you are looking for something that does multiple digital things, then this is a great little gadget for what you pay.

I like the size as it can easily be put into your pocket. It works kind of like a camcorder more than a camera. It records in several resolutions, but only the highest resolution is worth doing for both Movie and Picture modes.

The movie mode is great as it uses MPEG4. However, don't expect true DV quality. This compression has a lot of artifacts, but is nicely viewed on a PC. Not really suited for TV or DVD burning. Great for quick videos of the kids. Make sure you have good lighting. Does a good job with sound as well.

I purchased this as a second digital camera and to get all the extra features. My primary camera is much bigger and isn't something that is as easy to use as this.

The biggest complaint would be the lense quality. It is fixed in two positions. Close and far. One thing to watch out for is if you click it in the close mode and shoot far away. The video on the LCD looks fine (since it is so small) but when you play it back on the computer you realize what you did. There is no indicator on the interface to tell you which way the lense is positioned.

Make sure you purches a large SD card for it if you plan to use the good quality video mode.

All in all, it is a great device to have to carry all the time without worrying about the cost.

The MP3 is nice because you don't have to convert the format (like so many other players). You can just drag the files onto the SD and play them.

The other great feature is that while plugged into the USB port, it powers the unit so it doesn't drain your batteries. Most other camera's use the battery power while plugged in to the computer. Of course most other camera's have an AC adaptor, this one doesn't.

You can probably print 4x6 photos, but don't expect high quality pictures. They are good for day to day shots, but I wouldn't use this as the primary camera at an important event.

You really can't beat the price for all the different things this little thing does.

Fairly good pictures, MPEG4 Video, MP3 playback and Web Cam, ohh and voice recording.
