Agenda Computing VR3 HandheldThese PDA's were Agenda Computings attempt to compete against Palm and Microsoft and develop a PDA run on the Linux platform. They are pretty cool and alot of fun for the Linux hobbist. At this price, take home a couple.

VR3 Lives!

Pros: Linux OS; community supported; full power IR port (e.g., for remote controls)
Cons: 66 MHz CPU; slower than Palm; doesn't plug and play with Windows
Agenda Computing is no more, but the VR3 is still available from http://www.softfield.com, the contract manufacturer that produced them for Agenda.
The memory capacity is 16Mbytes. Detailed specs and pricing are available on the web site. There's still a choice of 3 colors, black, blue, and a translucent white. Sync cradle, stylus, case, and alkaline batteries are standard. AC adapter, charger, and modem are optional accessories.
Community support is still available on the http://www.agendawiki.com pages. This is an aggregation of several pages including "Lego Andy's" help pages and the Agenda Software Repository as well as links to several other sites including a place to download the sync application for Windows.
Obviously, if the idea of Linux on a PDA doesn't excite you there are cheaper and easier-to-use alternatives such as the Palm Zire series. I also own a Visor that I use daily. If this sort of thing does interest you but you don't want to spend the money for a Zaurus or Pocket PC, this may be for you.
