Preminger's political thriller examines the dark side of politics and its tragic personal repercussions for an essentially decent man. ADVISE & CONSENT - Preminger's 11th, as 'Independent'. Senate Hearings De-Mystified?
Pros: Cast, Story, Performances. Enactments of Government morals and customs of a half-century ago
Cons: Presumption that the Senate could govern itself. The script suggests that it can.
Explains, in less than two hours, as much or more than some Civics Classes I have taken. Better than getting "The TV News Stations" to explain how government works. Read More at Epinions.com

Advise & Consent: Getting Confirmed for a Government Job
Pros: Walter Pidgeon, Charles Laughton
Cons: Slow moving and a bit boring
Not as timeless as Preminger would have liked. The exposé of the inner workings of the government have been superseded by actual developments in Washington. Read More at Epinions.com
