Pros: The body integrity, the ride is smooth, great in dry weather
Cons: Radio reception, I had to get a better antenna. gas mileage is below expectations
When shopping for a car, I found, in 2001, this 1997 model TL, with 99,000 miles. They wanted $11,000 and after reading reviews, I purchased the car. Now I have 145,000 miles and the car drives like new. Body integrity is great, leather seats nice, controls on dash OK, except for the cruise(at least for me). I can easily see this car lasting well past 200,000 if not 300,000 miles. The tires that came with the car did not handle well in snow. Recently I purchased traction TA and so far they have worked real well, we'll see after the first snow. I never have seen an engine look as clean as this especially after 145,000 miles. I think that has something to do with the great effort in designing this car.
Takes only ultra gas, don't make a mistake in buying cheap gas. Buy good traction tires for any snow covered roads. The door locks have just begun to act up a little. If the car is unlocked and parked and I go into the car twice, I wait about 20 seconds and the alarm goes off. I fixed that by locking the car all the time.
