Call of Duty 4 Modern Warfare Computer Game
Name: Call Of Duty 4: Modern Warfare
Genre: First Person Shooter
Platforms: PC, PS3, XBOX360, Cell, Mac, Wii, NDS
Publisher: Activision
Developer: Infinity Ward
Release Date: November 05, 2007
STORY
If in the previous Call Of Duty games, you had to play two or three different storylines, in Modern Warfare, you will have one continuous story, set in modern times, and you're going to play it while filling the shoes of various characters, fighting for both the British SAS forces and the US Marines. This makes for a tighter narrative, and the story will manage to surprise you a couple of times, with its interesting plot twists.
Following the story, you will finish the game in 6-8 hours, depending on the difficulty you chose.
GAMEPLAY
All the weapons feel really accurate, and probably the most important thing is that the AI of your team mates has been drastically improved, from the previous games. You won't have to issue commands to them, like in the Rainbow Six games, but that is not necessary: they will always be where they are needed, fighting by your side, and actually saving your life most of the times.
The enemy AI has also received major improvements. Your enemies will try to flank you more often, or try to get you with your back against the wall, or throw grenades at you, to get you out of cover. Sure, there still are a few crazy (or maybe stupid) enemies running straight into your fire, but that happens so rarely, that it doesn't affect the overall experience of the game.
The game benefits from a variety of missions, which means you won't play in first person all the time, shooting enemies in the battlefield, but you will also get to fire guns from cars and helicopters. It succeeds in keeping the action going, and you won't have the time to get bored.
After finishing the main campaign once, you will unlock the Arcade Mode, which basically means going through the story one more time, only this time, you are rewarded with points for every kill you make.
Even if playing the story is great fun, the multiplayer is what will keep you
the most busy. It has the best multiplayer you will play, hands down. Sixteen maps, thirteen different modes to play (Free for all, Team Deathmatch, a variation of the well known Capture the flag, but with a bomb - Sabotage, and others), ranked matches, and a really deep RPG system, which works pretty simple: you're going to earn XPs for your kills and for winning matches, XPs which will give you access to more powerful weapons and weapon upgrades, and to perks (powers and abilities, like
faster running, faster reload time, deeper penetration of the bullets and other crazy things). To put it simply, the multiplayer is really addictive.
VERDICT
Shooter fans, and even non-shooter fans, you do not want to miss on the gem that Call OF Duty 4: Modern Warfare is. Great atmosphere, great gameplay, and superb multiplayer.
