Very good CPU

Author's Rating: Rating: 5/5 stars

Pros: Cool CPU, Quiet CPU fan, good for a cheap computer instead of an Intel.

Cons: Can't overclock alot.

The Bottom Line:
If you need a fast, cheap CPU, then get this one.

Author's Review
I bought this CPU when my not so old main board went bad, and I got the AMD 64 3000 because it's fast and uses a lot less power (1.7Amps VS my Intel Celeron "D" 320 2.4 at 2.7 Amps). Since I didn’t have the money to buy a socet 939 with PCI-Express, I got this CPU instead. My new system is as follows: (note, the +++++ means 5 stars)

AMD Athlon 64 Socet 754 3000 +++++
MSI K8N-Neo Platinum nVIDiA 3 250Gb Chipset ++++
EVGA nVIDiA GeForce 5700 Personal Cinema ++++
Corsair Value RAM 400MHz 2.5 3 3 8 Timings ++++
WD 250GB IDE +++++
Rosewill RP500 +++++
ThermalTake Tsunami +++++
Microsoft Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005 +++++

What I do on my computer is edit videos, Watch HDTV, Record TV, Internet, E-Mail, and Listen to Music. So I need a fast CPU to do Video Editing, and Watch HD videos. So I went to www.tomshardware.com to look at the benchmark of this CPU and saw that it's very fast. So I got it from Newegg.com. Installing it wasn’t the easiest thing to do, but it was better than the installation of the Athlon XP, because if you reversed the heatsink, the CPU overheated! So then, I installed the Operating System, and it installed in about 40 Minutes (not including format). So then I ran PC mark and got 37000 PC Marks. Overclocking this CPU, I got it to 2.2GHz 220MHz FSB, so it's not very good for the Overclocking freak (they should get the Celeron "D"). So Overall, I think that this is a very good CPU.
